The Egyptian Awqaf ministry announced that a total of 17,600 Quranic circles will be held in mosques and religious centers across the country.

The Quranic circles are for general public as well as imams of mosques, and Awqaf ministry staff.

There will also be special Quranic programs for women and for female preachers after noon and afternoon prayers.

Senior Quran reciters will attend these programs during Ramadan, according to the ministry.

In addition to recitation of the Quran, the program will include lessons on Quranic and Islamic teachings.

Ramadan (which is likely to start on March 12 this year) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.
